Presented by Sonja Lallemand, Horticulturist and retired Extension Educator
Learn how to create a beautiful landscape feature in your yard that captures
and filters runoff from your roof, driveway or other hard surfaces by attending a
“Rain Garden” seminar presented by Sonja Lallemand, horticulturist and retired extension
educator, on Saturday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m. She will present information on
the benefits of hard-working rain gardens to prevent flooding, increase home value,
and create habitat for birds and butterflies. Rain gardens are built on a downhill
slope filled with native grasses and plants that collect runoff from downspouts and
roads and gradually soak the water into the soil, nourishing plants and creating
a diverse habitat. Learn how to build your own rain garden to the proper size, soil,
and depth, where to locate it, and which plants are best to grow in rain gardens.
This is an interesting and beneficial topic for all.
Join us for this informative seminar on Saturday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m.
